I am a Realtor in the Kansas City meto area. I have been selling real estate for 5 years, which is a career move from being a Registered Nurse for 10 years. As an RN I worked in the ICU, CCU, CVICU, NEURO ICU, PACU, and TRAUMA ICU. Those are areas of very high stress with emotional and physical demands. After 10 years I was emotionally and physically tired but could not see myself doing any other part of nursing so I decided on a total career change (thanks to my husbands support) and went to Real Estate School. After working in the intense ICU environment I saw selling real estate as a fun way to help and meet people. However, the timing of my career move brought on its share of challenges with the bust of the housing market and the mess the subprime loans created in the lending institutions. Despite all of the negative press on the housing market, it has been a great time to learn how the real estate industry really works. This rough time will someday pass, as they always have, and when it does I will be ready, educated, and excited to be in a field where the harder I work, the more reward I get. After all, that is the American dream!
